Matthew Rippeyoung earned a Masters in Counselling Psychology at Northwestern University. Whether a client is facing challenges related to stress, depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship problems or identity issues, he approaches his work with compassion, empathy and understanding. His working style is based on the assumption that people are always trying to do their best to make their lives more manageable. He strives to provide an accepting environment for people from all walks of life to explore their inner and outer worlds without the fear of judgement.
Trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy that takes a life-course developmental view of human growth, Matthew Rippeyoung also incorporates cognitive behavioural, behavioural and humanistic principles into his therapeutic relationships. In therapy, this means that some times he may look at the client's underlying beliefs and past events in their life that continue to impact them at the present time to better understand their current situation. Other times, it may mean that therapy will focus on developing new ways to cope or considering alternate behaviours to help clients resolve conflicts more easily.
