2017 is around the corner and what better way to welcome the New Year with a bang. However, counting down at Nathan Phillips Square may not be your cup of tea. The crowds can make the whole situation more stressful than fun. Here are some tips I have gathered to help you bring in 2017 with a bang but also stress-free.
1. Host a small and intimate party
Instead of going out to welcome the New Year surrounded by strangers, why not host a small and intimate party at the comfort of home. That way you know for sure that you are surrounded by people you love and know. Even better if you live around any of the places where they are doing a countdown so you can watch the fireworks without shivering in the cold.
2. Reflect on your accomplishments.
It can be easy to reflect on your last year’s resolutions and think “I’m such a failure” for not achieving them. However, if you reflect back on the whole year, you’ll be able to recall all your accomplishments that make you proud.
3. Write down your resolutions
This year instead of verbally or mentally writing down your resolution, why not pin them up on the fridge. This way you will have a constant reminder of your resolution is ensure you take action to achieve it. If you’re hosting a party, this could be a great activity to do with your friends and family. By sharing your resolution, you will have a support system to help guide you if you lose motivation.
4. Watch New Year’s Eve
If going out isn't really your thing, invite a friend over and watch this movie. This romantic comedy film literally titled New Year’s Eve follows an ensemble cast as they get through the last day of the year. Packed with A-list actors from Zac Efron, Halle Berry, Lea Michele to Ashton Kutcher, it would seem like you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve with them.
This may not seem obvious but it’s the last day of the year before you have to tackle a new year. Staying home and relaxing is the perfect way for you to physically and mentally recharge so you will be ready to tackle any challenges that 2017 will bring. Maybe light some of your favourite candles, play your favourite flick on the tv or take a long, warm, and relaxing bath.
Hope these tips help you bring in 2017 a bang and keep your New Years stress-free. Personally, I've realized that it is a lot more enjoyable to countdown at the comfort of home. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
